X-Files News had the pleasure to talk to Carlos Valenzuela, one of the artists comissioned to draw the newest installment of The X-Files comic books.
Valenzuela, a professional illustrator and comic book artist from Chile, has worked for several companies in the entertainment industry, like Fantasy Flight Games, Pyranha Bytes, SQP Publishing, Under The Floorboards, Ballistic Publishing, IDW Ltd, just to name a few.
XFN: How did you get into the business of illustrating?
"I always wanted to enter the world of illustration. My artistic influences are mainly from classic illustrators like Frazetta, Corben, Wrightson, Moebius, Elvgren, etc. and thanks to some online communities like DeviantArt or CGSociety I was able to show my first works. Also, I work for a couple of years being represented by an US agency. With them I did almost illustration work, from book covers, card games, to posters and comic book covers.
Right now, I work mainly as an illustrator, but with some comic book works from time to time, like the upcoming Mars Attacks story from IDW."
Headed to the Calgary Expo this weekend? There are lots of X-Files alumni to catch up with and some great panels. Not to mention the multiple opportunities you have to take photos with your favorites and get some awesome autographs!

For a more comprehensive look at the expo, head over to this article. But for a quick overview, this is what you need to know:

The weather might not feel like Spring yet, but it has sure arrived with the beginning of "Con" season. Calgary Expo is only a couple of days away, and XFN has been officially accredited to report live from the convention. This expo will take place over the weekend, April 26-28th in Calgary, AB at the BMO Centre.
If you are attending, prepare yourself for a great time because this is one of the biggest X-Files reunion in the past couple of years. Gillian Anderson, Robert Patrick, Mitch Pileggi, Mark Sheppard, and Cary Elwes are all in attendence. However, if you are unable to attend, fear no more because XFN's very own Jeremy Schoff and Matthew Nygren will be there all weekend to report live on all things X-Files.
If you haven't already heard, together the Art Directors Guild Film Society, the American Cinematheque, and The Hollywood Reporter are collaborating to host an event celebrating the art and design of The X-Files.
On May 19th, both Chris Carter and Vince Gilligan will be in attendance. Production Designer John Muto will moderate the event, which will include screenings of "Triangle" and "Je Souhaite," as well as a discussion with X-Files production designer Corey Kaplan.
