Here's to once again celebrating The X-Files at Hollywood and Highland. We have a feeling it won't be the last.
NBC's Hannibal premiered last night, introducing to the small screen the newest Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The series follows the character from Thomas Harris' books before he was captured, and according to showrunner Bryan Fuller, will eventually come to adapt the novel Red Dragon in season four. If the series can gain the rights to use the characters from Silence of the Lambs, we may even come to see Clarice Starling at some point.
However, before all of that happens, Dr. Lecter will have his head shrunk by Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, played by none other than Gillian Anderson. As tweeted by Bryan Fuller, she will appear as Hannibal's psychiatrist in episodes 7, 8, 12, and 13. When Gillian spoke to Fangoria, she had this to say about her character:
'The X-Files' started shortly after 'Silence of the Lambs' came out, and Chris Carter told me shortly after we began that Scully was in fact based on the character of Clarice Starling. And although this character is different, something about it feels like we’re on the same conversations, you know. It has come full circle. The relationship here is somewhat elusive. My character knows its serving a purpose, being with Hannibal and I think she feels protective over him. We learn that she is retired but he wouldn’t accept that, so now he is her only patient. They feed off each other, if you will.
It will be awhile before we see her character, but if you want to be prepared and keep up with the show, you can watch the pilot on NBC's website. You can also catch a glimpse of Dr. Du Maurier in this promo released last night:
The fans keep talking about it. Chris Carter, Frank Spotnitz, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson keep talking about it. We keep telling FOX The X-Files franchise is not dead yet. If this does not show how big the X-Phile audience is out there, we don't know what else to say.
The Chinese 6 Theater in Hollywood is bringing our beloved show back to the big screen for one night only. In honor of the show's 20th anniversary this year, there will be a special closing-night event during the Hero Complex FIlm Festival with a special tribute to The X-Files. Fans will vote on what episodes they wish to see and the top 3 will be screened at the closing-night event. You can choose from a list of 11 episodes including Pilot, Post-Modern Prometheus and Home!
They are also announcing there might be a special guest present at the special event to discuss the series.
The Hero Complex Film Festival will take place in Hollywood, May 10-12th. For more information on this event, please check their website here.

NBC's Hannibal premieres in just two weeks! Gillian Anderson won't be appearing until later in the season; however, that won't stop Dr. Lecter from starting in on dinner early. We've all seen The Silence of the Lambs, but Hannibal takes place before Clarice Starling met the good doctor.
The series will center around FBI profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and his relationship with Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen):
FBI Agent Will Graham hunts the most notorious serial killers. What he doesn't know is his new partner is the most notorious serial killer of all.
Both a gift and a curse, Graham has the extraordinary ability to think like his prey—he sees what they see, feels what they feel. But while Graham is pursuing an especially troubling, cannibalistic murderer, Special Agent Jack Crawford teams him with a highly respected psychiatrist – a man with a taste for the criminal-minded – Dr. Hannibal Lecter.
Gillian will play Lecter's therapist, Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier. Talking to TVLine, Mads Mikkelsen described the relationship between the two characters as “very kinky, but very interesting. There is a strange chemistry going on there. And there is definitely something that has happened between those two that we will know later… we’re not really dealing with it yet, but you know it’s there.”
We all know that Chris Carter is behind the pen and paper of XF3's script maybe with the collaboration of his usual partners in crime (Frank Spotnitz, we're looking at you) ...Now, who would you want to see as director of the anticipated Mythology film? Leave your vote and comment!
