This past Saturday night both Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny joined a small group of X-Files fans at The Paley Center for Media in New York City. “The Truth Is Here” event celebrated the 20th anniversary of the series and delved into the history and making of the show.
Keith Uhlich from Time Out New York did a fantastic job moderating the panel. Philes in the room and those watching the live stream all had a great time hearing David and Gillian talk about their time as Mulder and Scully.
The panel covered lots of topics including the filming of the “Pilot”, the work of the writers, Scully’s cancer, Mulder and Scully’s relationship, and beyond. In addition, each actor chose two clips from the series to be screened. Gillian’s were first, and she chose an autopsy scene from “Bad Blood” followed by the end of “The Unnatural” where Mulder and Scully hit baseballs. David’s scenes were next; he chose the moment in which Mulder shoots Scully in “How the Ghosts Stole Christmas” and the dance scene at the end of “The Post-Modern Prometheus”.
XFN was excited to be on site for the event to live tweet and cover all that was discussed. You can check out our photos from the event on Facebook, and if you missed the live stream, watch the video of it below.
The weekend is almost here and we are all getting too excited for what it’s bringing us. New York Comic Con started today and the Paley Center X-Files Event is coming up on Saturday, and we have our staff covering these events live from the Big Apple. However, if you are not one of the lucky ones and cannot make it to NYC this weekend, but still want to hang out with fellow Philes and talk about our favorite show, you are not alone.
It was with that in mind that we have prepared special Skype Files sessions for this weekend. We will host 2 special sessions, one during the panel at the Paley Center, and one during the X-Files panel at NYCC.
The panel at the Paley Center will take place this Saturday at 6:30PM EST. The Paley Center will have a live stream online for those of you who wish to follow along. We will start a Skype Files session at 5:30PM EST. That will give us plenty of time to get ready for the streaming. We have selected a couple of episodes for this special session. We will be watching ‘Unruhe’ and ‘Trevor’. We will stop the episodes during the panel and continue after it is over.
The X-Files panel at NYCC will take place this Sunday at 4PM EST. NYCC will have a live stream of the panel for those of you who wish to follow along. We will start a Skype Files session at 3PM EST, that’s plenty of time to watch an episode and get ready. We have selected a couple of episodes for this special session. We will be watching ‘Jose Chung’s From Outer Space’ and ‘The Pine Bluff Variant’. We will stop the episodes during the panel and continue after it is over.
To be able to join this special session, make sure you have downloaded Skype to your computer or mobile device and have created an account (They’re free!) and add Tricia Silva (DrTrish197) and/or Jeremy Schoff (jerbsinator) to your contact list and we’ll do the rest.
Tickets are not yet available for purchase. They will go on sale to members this Wednesday, September 25 at noon, and Friday, September 27th, at noon to the general public. Member tickets are $25 and general public tickets are $35. For information about membership to the Paley Center, check here.
