Here’s a little about Genevieve:

1. When did you become an X-Phile?

I started watching when it first aired in 1993. I was in the 3rd grade and though my parents were wary, I successfully persuaded them to let me. I was even Scully for Halloween.

FanArt Wednesdays – Elsa Rimbod

elsa rimbod

This week’s chosen artist is Elsa Rimbod from Annecy, France. You can find her work on Tumblr, Instagram, Twitter and her website

Here’s a little about Elsa:

1. When did you become an X-Phile?

I became an X-Phile when I was a child. I was born in 1989 and I remember watching X-Files at a very young age. My older brother loved the show so I watched it with him. I was about 5 when I first saw an episode. I remember being really scared but I loved and still love to watch the show. So I guess I became an X-Phile back then.

FanArt Wednesdays – Ashley Nicole Borlik

ashleyborlik

This week’s chosen artist is Ashley Nicole Borlik, from Los Angeles. You can find her work on Tumblr and Twitter.

Here’s a little about Ashley:

1. When did you become an X-Phile?

I started watching with my family during the first run of the first season, but I became truly obsessed in between the third and fourth seasons. Family was a big part of my love for the show, it’s the only thing we were allowed to pull the TV out and watch during family beach weekends.

2. What is the first episode you watched?

The very first episode that I watched was “Ice”. I had the opportunity to meet David Nutter and tell him that, it was fantastic and he was super nice.

3. What are you looking forward to seeing in the revival?

I’m looking forward to seeing Mulder and Scully on screen together again. There’s something magical that happens when those two are on screen together completely independent of anything else that’s going on. A story that is sufficiently creepy would be nice too.

4. What inspired you to draw X-Files?

Well, I have had Photoshop since around the time that I first became obsessed with The X-Files, and used it to help make my silly Geocities fan site back in the day. Now I use it as a hobby and for work, so when the trailers for the revival came out I just had to mess around with new X-Files images. I couldn’t help myself! I can’t wait to play around with screenshots from the revival.

5. Who is your favorite character?

Scully takes it with this one. She’s amazing on all fronts.

6. List your top 5 episodes.

Oh, this is a hard one. In no particular order: “Pusher”, “Never Again”, “Field Trip”, “Ice”, “Irresistible”. (Ask me tomorrow and I’d give you an entirely different list, ha!)

7. Favorite X-Files quote.

“Nothing happens in contradiction to nature, only in contradiction to what we know of it.”

8. How has The X-Files impacted your life?

It’s entirely the reason that I am working in television right now. I’ve had the pleasure of working with a number of people that have worked on The X-Files in various capacities. Beyond simply inspiring me to pursue it as a career, The X-Files changed so much about the look and the feel of television and held it to a higher standard. Thus, it has shaped the quality of work that I’m able to be involved in now. It also gave me confidence and strength as an adolescent, and is one of the few things that I’ve only gotten to love more as an adult.

Thanks, Ashley! Come back next Wednesday for a new artist!

FanArt Wednesdays – Renato Pastor

renato pastor

This week’s chosen artist is Renato Pastor from Brazil. You can find his work on Tumblr, DevianArt and Facebook.

 Here’s a little about Renato:

1 . When did you become an X-Phile?

I think it was way back in ’97 or ’98, I think, which was the first time I caught a glimpse of the show late at night on TV. Right from the moment I saw it, I knew it was something special that I had to follow.

2. What is the first episode you watched?

It’s hard to remember, because after all, it’s been almost 20 years. It may possibly have been the one about the Nephilim, ‘All Souls’. It was so creepy, and the atmosphere so eerie. Granted, it’s got nothing to do with aliens, but The X-Files had in their ‘monster of the week’ episodes some of the best in the series, I think.

FanArt Wednesdays – Ian Wiesen

ianwiesen

This week’s chosen artist is Ian Wiesen from Texas. You can find his work on Tumblr and Twitter.

Here’s a little about Ian:

1 . When did you become an X-Phile?

Around March 2015. It’s strange that The X-Files has existed almost my entire life and I am just discovering it this year. I can’t believe how much I was missing! My brother was the one who was getting into it on Netflix at first, he’d been watching it and I’d join him. I was a “fan” for the first couple seasons and the episode I realized I was really becoming more of a “phile” when I saw “Quagmire”. After that episode I knew I was deeply invested in the characters and show. As we progressed in our binge-watching, before I knew it we finished season 5 and it had us driving all over town looking for a DVD copy of “Fight the Future”! Then I definitely knew I was an X-Phile.

2. What is the first episode you watched?

“Pilot”, which I saw earlier this year. The story of how I started watching The X-Files: I was watching a terrible movie on Netflix called Killer Mermaid with my family, and there was this music in it that sounded somewhat like the X-Files theme. So we started talking about The X-Files and decided to start watching it just to see what it was all about, and in that moment my life was changed forever, ha. It’s possible I’ve seen an episode in the past that I’m not conscious of but I was only 3 when The X-Files started airing. Not to mention I was absolutely terrified of aliens as a kid so if I so much as heard the theme song on TV I would not want to be in the room. I do remember seeing The Simpsons’ X-Files crossover episode when it originally aired and even that scared me. Thankfully I’ve gotten over it. 😛

FanArt Wednesdays – Kelly Lacroix

kelly lacroix

This week’s chosen artist is Kelly Lacroix originally from France but currently living in the United Kingdom. You can find her work on Tumblr, Twitter, DevianArt, Instagram or check out her website.

Here’s a little about Kelly:

1. When did you become an X-Phile?

I became a fan of The X-Files around the age of 12. This was sadly just after the show had ended, around 2003. I watched the whole show while it was re-airing in France, where I lived at the time. I quickly started saving my pocket money to be able to buy the seasons on DVDs and watched Mulder and Scully with their original voices, as it was dubbed through and through in French. I was probably underage and not supposed to watch most of the episodes but an X-Phile was born that year. And I’ve never looked back.

2. What is the first episode you watched?

My memory is very blurry regarding this. I do believe it wasn’t an episode but the first movie, Fight The Future. My parents used to watch The X-Files, past my bedtime of course. But one evening I remember staying up a bit longer and watching Fight The Future with them. The first scenes with the black oil running up under that kid’s leg stayed with me for years. I also lived under the impression that Mulder and Scully were a couple much earlier on. I cannot explain my surprise as I rewatched the whole series from the beginning… People who followed the original series airing week after week have my utmost respect!

This week’s chosen artist is Elias Archanjo, a design student from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. You can find his work on Facebook, his Instagram, Twitter and his website.

Here’s a little about Elias:

1. When did you become an X-Phile?

I can say I’ve been an X-Phile since I was a little kid. I was probably seven years old and scared to death of most episodes, but couldn’t stop watching.

2. What is the first episode you watched?

I can’t remember the first episode I watched when I was a kid, but as a grown up, I bought the box with all episodes and started to watch since the first one: Pilot.

FanArt Wednesdays – Josaid Bracho

josaid

This week’s chosen artist is Josaid Bracho from Venezuela. Josaid is the person behind the rewatch posters that you see floating around on Twitter. You can check out her work through her Tumblr, DeviantArt and Twitter

Here’s a little about Josaid:

1. When did you become an X-Phile?

I think it was between 1993 and 1994. I was lucky enough to have a special access to a TV signal that belonged to some company (not illegally, just lucky >.<), and as an eleven-year-old girl, I just watched a LOT of TV. I fell in love with the series since the first time I watched an episode, even being a native Spanish speaker and not able to understand anything. Nothing, not even a word of what they were saying. I started recording on VHS, and activating the closed caption I started writing down the dialogues and using a dictionary. I learned a lot thanks to The X-Files. Sometimes when my parents asked me about being able to understand what I was watching, I used to say “I was born to see this” but in Spanish XD.

2. What is the first episode you watched?

To be honest, I truly don’t remember which one, sometimes my memory tricks me showing flashbacks of the Pilot XD; but I’m not sure, let’s say it’s an episode from the first three seasons. I have a “funny” story about the time I had no satellite TV or cable, I thought that the 3rd season finale was THE END, I mean that X-Files only had three seasons and I started to rewatch my VHS tapes all over again, but by the end of 1998 when I came out of my hole and rediscovered the world I felt so blessed that there were more X-Files episodes and even a MOVIE! I became the happiest person in the universe.

FanArt Wednesdays – Adrianna Ojrzanowska

adriannaThis week’s chosen artist is Adrianna Ojrzanowska from Warsaw, Poland. Adrianna is a self-taught artist and is currently studying Architecture. She does custom work as well, so if you’re interested in ordering her work, send her a message on any of her social media platforms: Tumblr, DeviantArt or Facebook

Here’s a little about Adrianna:

1. When did you become an X-Phile?

I’m a relatively new member of the fandom because I started to watch it about six months ago. The X-Files is older than me, so I was a little kid during its original broadcast, later on it wasn’t widely popular in my country. I was encouraged to start the series by… Tumblr, I’ve seen much content there and decided that I should give it a go. I fell for it immediately.

2. What is the first episode you watched?

When I was five I stumbled upon one episode but it totally creeped me out. So… it could have been any of them. Conciously I started from the pilot.

FanArt Wednesdays – April Piccarreta

aprilpiccarretaThis week’s chosen artist is April Piccarreta from Arizona. April works with painting and crochet, but her primary medium is drawing. You can find April and view her work on her website and through her Tumblr, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Here’s a little about April:

1. When did you become an X-Phile?

A little over a year ago, I was working my way through all of the special features on the show Breaking Bad. I quickly noticed that Vince Gilligan was telling more stories about this show, The X-Files, than he was for Breaking Bad, so I figured I might as well see what the fuss was about.  I started watching on Netflix, (I binged all 9 seasons) my first drawing I did was in the second episode and I’ve been absolutely obsessed ever since.

2. What is the first episode you watched?

The first episode I remember watching was 731 when it aired live back in 1995. I remember watching how calm and bored Mulder seemed while talking to Scully on the phone, staring down a bomb, a mere seconds away from being blown to bits and thinking “What kind of show IS this?”
