There has been lots of talk of Gillian Anderson attending San Diego Comic-Con this year, and the details are finally out.
First off, she will be attending the X-Files 20th Anniversary panel on Thursday the 18th alongside many of the XF writers and producers. We’ll bring you more updates on this as they emerge.
Gillian will also be attending a panel for the new IDW The X-Files: Season 10 comics, as well as autographing at the Lightspeed Fine Art booth.
She will only be appearing Thursday through Saturday. For more information, head over to her website.
We promise to deliver a thorough report of what you should be doing at San Diego Comic Con 2013 very soon. In the mean time, if you already got badges, well congratulations, because on Thursday, July 18th, TV Guide has scheduled a celebration of the 20th Anniversary of The X-Files!
We’ve confirmed this information through various sources as it had also surfaced through various leaks on Twitter and the SDCC Unofficial Blog. While the final guest list has not been confirmed, the names that have been mentioned by TV Guide that could be included in the panel are: Chris Carter, David Amann, Vince Gilligan, Howard Gordon, Darin Morgan, Glen Morgan, John Shiban & Jim Wong.
Gillian Anderson has been announced to make an appearance at a booth during the convention, though it hasn’t been confirmed yet if she will participate of this panel. TV Guide has advised that more guests may be added to this list.
While we are sure that you can imagine the excitement that these news bring to the X-Phile community and we don’t expect any less, ComicCon experts warn that this panel may turn into an equal or bigger experience than the Firefly 10th Anniversary panel from last year’s convention. For such event, over seven thousand fans camped out to try to get inside Ballroom 20 at the San Diego Convention Center, which only holds about half of that capacity. Sufice to say, it was a very interesting yet exciting scene.
Hopefully, not only will fans of the show will line up in enormous quantities, but let’s hope that SDCC plans to accomodate a larger room for such an amazing audience and experience.
XFN will be in attendance so expect our usual coverage of this panel and more. This is a developing story, more details as they are confirmed.
…and then we stopped breathing. This week’s featured video by snakey973 will dredge up every painful, heart wrenching feel you ever had for Mulder, Scully, and their son, and after doing so, it will put IWTB in a very interesting perspective for you. #XF3 because we need something to kill the pain.
A month ago, Gillian Anderson gave a talk and Q&A session at Collectormania in Milton Keynes. The event was attended by 50 lucky fans and raised money for the charity Gillian co-founded, SA-YES. The organization helps marginalized children and young adults in South Africa.
You may have seen our Twitter coverage of the event thanks to the lovely Sophie Brown. However if you didn’t or if you’d like to see more, check out the video of the full talk below.
The video is free to watch, but if you would like to donate to SA-YES, you can do so here.
Now that you’ve probably had the time to read about a dozen times the first issue of the new X-Files comics, we’d like to give you a peek into the man behind the illustrations of “Believers.”
Michael Walsh is a comic artist and illustrator, and based on his Tumblr, he’s “best known for drawing the upcoming Image/Shadowline mini-series COMEBACK. His other work includes the Shuster nominated webcomic MURDERBOOK, BROTHERS JAMES (215 Ink), and the prequel comic for the popular Showcase television show CONTINUUM. But those aren’t his only works. He’s been very busy, among other things, bringing Mulder and Scully back to life with the news series of X-Files comics that just begun its run this past Wednesday.

You asked for it, your craved for it, and following the motto he’s now famous for, Frank Spotnitz didn’t give up on Sam Hunter, and neither did Cinemax.
HBO/Cinemax and The X Files alum Frank Spotnitz are developing Sam Hunter, a drama starring Melissa George to air on Cinemax. A spinoff of Cinemax’s Hunted, the action series sees George reprising her role as Sam, a gutsy agent in the murky world of private espionage. Now on the run from her former employer, Sam has a price on her head and a young daughter to protect. She must work as a freelance spy to find out who wants her dead — and how it connects to the murder of her own mother. Cinemax is planning to launch Sam Hunter as a four-hour miniseries, which Spotnitz is currently writing.
We’re really excited to have this story continue. Congratulations, Mr. Spotnitz!
This is a developing story, we’ll inform of more details as they come.
It was only this past January when IDW Publishing announced that it would be producing a new line of X-Files comics. It had been almost five years since the release of Wildstorm’s seven-issue series in 2008 and three years since their collaboration with IDW to produce the 30 Days of Night crossover. With a new series of post-I Want to Believe comics, it was time for the return of Mulder and Scully.
Then March came around and news broke that Chris Carter himself would be taking part in the new series. He took on the role of executive producer–after all, he is the god of The X-Files universe.
Slowly but surely, cover artwork and synopses started coming out. We sat down with Cover Artist Carlos Valenzuela and got a look at some of his amazing artwork. And here we are, day of the release of The X-Files: Season 10.
After sitting down to read Issue #1, here’s what we at XFN think.
(This contains is a synopsis, so if you haven’t read the issue yet, you will be spoiled.)

Issue #1 of IDW Publishing‘s The X-Files: Season 10 releases tomorrow! After months of waiting, it is finally here. So what can you expect when you open up those pages tomorrow? Well you can take a peek in the preview pages below. We think you’ll enjoy it; we certainly did.
The last time we saw Mulder and Scully, they were in the middle of a tropical ocean, as far away from the darkness as they could get. Well the darkness has returned. Picking up after I Want to Believe, we catch up with our two favorite heros just in time to see them dive into another dark conspiracy. What unravels in the first issue of the “Believers” arc touches on some very important history from The X-Files. After all, the mythology never reached its prophesied conclusion.
What is this “deadly mystery” that writer Joe Harris spoke about? Who is after Mulder and Scully now? Well, in true X-Files fashion, the Truth is out there. However, we are very excited about what we’ve seen so far. The story line certainly feels like something from The X-Files.
The issues introduced that this series will explore are really interesting. Remember some of those questions you pondered away at for hours on end or the massive conversations on message boards back in the day? Well, we may start to see some answers–but never all of them because after all, Chris Carter is lurking the shadows somewhere in typical Deep Throat fashion.
There are also some great small details in this issue that harken back to the series and movies. Joe Harris and Michael Walsh show a depth of knowledge for the show that fans will truly appreciate.
The “Believers” storyline stretches into five issues, and then we’re off into other explorations of MOTW and Mytharc stories. We highly recommend picking up a copy of Issue #1; it will not disappoint. If you’re not sure where to get one, this should help you find the best option.
We will bring you a full review tomorrow, as there is lots to discuss. It may not be clear where these comics will take us, but one thing is for certain: Mulder and Scully are back.
The X-Files: Season 10 hits stands tomorrow, June 19th.
This year is the year of The X-Files. Many appearances, interviews and celebrations have been set up to celebrate our favorite show. And what’s best than a brief conversation with the father of it all, Mr. Chris Carter himself?
A couple of months ago, we approached him on the eve of many an event planned to honor the 20th anniversary of the show and we were able to ask him a few questions about his experience as the creator of such iconic television show.
Take the jump for the full interview!
