LAX-Files Charity Auction

LAX-Files is holding another round of charity auctions to benefit the American Cancer Society in honor of Kim Manners. There are some great autographed X-Files items this round, including comics, magazines, and posters, as well as some rarer items, too. This round ends in less than two days.

So if your X-Files collection is looking a little thin, check out the auction, grab some cool items, and help a great cause. Also, be sure to follow LAX-Files on Facebook and author Erica Fraga on Twitter for updates on future auctions.

Chris Carter Bugs Out…to Illinois

Every year the Entomology Department at the University of Illinois hosts the “Insect Fear Film Festival“. Centering on movies with scary creepy crawlies, Dr. May Berenbaum (her name isn’t Bambi) created the festival in 1984. Over the years, the festival has grown, and this year they have a very special theme: The X-Files.

“The InsX-Files: The Truth (About Insects) Is Out There” will be showing “War of the Coprophages” followed by Fight the Future. After each showing, the one and only Chris Carter will be doing Q&As. Admission is free, so if you’re in the area, be sure to head on down. The festival will be held at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Foellinger Auditorium on Saturday, February 23rd.

To promote the festival, Chris is also doing a radio interview on WILL-AM. Today at 10am CST he can be heard on the program “Focus”. You can listen live here

For more updates, follow the IFFF on Facebook, and make sure you check out this years’ cool X-Files themed shirts. We’ll hopefully be bringing you some live tweeting from the Q&As, so also make sure that you follow us on Twitter @XFilesNews
Update: Listen to the recording of Chris Carter’s interview here.

XFN Joins HuffPost Interview With Robert Patrick

HuffPost Live conducted an interview with Robert Patrick yesterday to discuss his past and present projects. XFN’s Editor-in-Chief Avi Quijada joined them via Skype to throw in some X-Files questions. Also discussed were Identity Thief, True Blood, Terminator 2, and Robert’s work with the USO.

Check it out below. The whole interview is great, but if you’re just dying to see what Robert had to say about the future of John Doggett (and Monica Reyes), skip ahead to 15:20.

X-Files Reunion at The Calgary Expo

A new year has just started and we barely have time to catch our breaths before convention season starts all over again. Canadian fans will be getting a special X-Files treat in April with The Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo. The Calgary Expo, as it’s most known, is the biggest festival of its kind that brings together more than 60,000 fans of sci-fi, film, television, fantasy, horror, comic book, gaming and animation.

This year, The Calgary Expo is bringing to you not just one, but three X-Files alumni. Gillian Anderson, Robert Patrick, and Mitch Pileggi will be in attendance at the three-day convention.

Mark your calendars if you are in the area (make travel arrangements if you’re not) because this convention is a must go for any X-Files fan. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to meet the celebrities behind our favorite TV characters and meet some amazing fellow Philes. The Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo will take place in Calgary, AB April 26-28. Check out their website for a full list of guests and details on the Expo.
